Towards a Twitter sustainable energy community in Brussels















An interactive workshop #Tw4SE, held by Copper Alliance and Vattel , took place yesterday in Brussels to explore opportunities to establish a Twitter oriented community of Brussels-based energy transitions experts. The event gathered more than 30 to professionals working on the energy transition in Brussels with an active twitter account.

“Energy transition is not about new technologies but about commitment to systematic change towards sustainability” stated the organizations on Twitter.

Sustainable energy policy is one of the most active EU policy areas in Brussels, however, potentials of social media remain unfulfilled. Because of that Dusan Jakovljevic, Director (Policy & Communications) at Energy Efficiency in Industrial Processes (EEIP), shared some ideas and knowledge on use of Twitter for energy transition tomorrow.

1807216_Workshop twitter2Twitter can be used to spread information, broadcast policy developments, secure engagement of stakeholders, test ideas, draw input from companies and experts, etc. Besides it provides opportunities for direct and sustained communication between industry, NGOs and policy makers.

Community building, how to select the right kind of audience, how to optimise conversions on Twitter or create the perfect tweet were some of the insights in proper tweeting strategies from Dusan Jakovljevic.
